Notable Journy
Friday May 10th — 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
Notable Journey, an acoustic guitar/vocal duo hailing from the Pacific Northwest, performs a panoply of styles ranging from jazz to folk to pop.
Featured vocalist Bhaj Townsend has decades of experience fronting bands, which is evident in her ease before an audience and in her silky, provocative singing voice. Bhaj’s solid guitar work lays the foundation for Gordon Currie’s stunning, intricate guitar accompaniment. Together as Notable Journey, Bhaj and Gordon create an intimate musical experience that takes the listener on an excursion through an array of style, mood and emotion.
Notable Journey is the current incarnation of Threshold, Bhaj and Gordon’s previous musical endeavor, remembered fondly by their fans, back before everyone’s lives got complicated by jobs and other extenuating circumstances. Threshold enjoyed a good amount of success touring west coast venues and festivals, sharing stages with the likes of Maria Muldaur, Donovan, The Montreux Band, Tania Maria, and Pierre Bensusan.
Notable Journey picks up the reins where Threshold left off and is capitalizing on their previous success to reach new audiences with their original vocal and instrumental compositions and the occasional well-regarded classic tune. The inaugural self-titled Notable Journey recording was released October 2018, and is available on CDBaby.

Adam Dobres
Saturday, May 11 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Adam Dobres is a folk-oriented guitarist with a fluid talent and adaptive sensibility. Born in Canada and currently living on Pender Island in British Columbia, he has toured all over the world with acts ranging from folk ensemble The Ruth Moody Band to pop rock singer Toni Childs. In 2016, he stepped into the spotlight with his eponymous debut album, earning him a nomination for instrumental artist of the year in the West Coast Music Awards.
As a young man Adam started out playing classical guitar, before discovering Celtic music, which would prove a vibrant and enduring influence. He went on to study jazz at Vancouver Island University, but left after one year to accept a gig touring the American South. During this period he was exposed to Cajun music, an experience that deepened Adam’s appreciation for folk music of all kinds. Over the course of his professional career, Adam has been the featured guitarist for many bands. He’s played with Dustin Bentall’s alt-country group, worked closely with Cameron Latimer, and supported singer-songwriter Ridley Bent both on tour and on five albums. Together with Pharis Romero, Oliver Swain and Kendel Carson, he’s toured North America as part of old time string
band Outlaw Social.
