    Performance 101: How To Take Your Music From the Living Room To The Stage

    In this 90 minute workshop Steve Davison and Peter Janson will share decades worth of performance experience as soloists, and members of ensembles with guitarists who are ready to take the next step in their musical lives: Performance.
    In addition to Davison's hands on pragmatic approach to performance, Janson will share his 5 planes of musicality:  Practice, rehearsal, performance, playing guitar, and playing music.  They will help you establish a practice and rehearsal routine that will engender self-confidence, as well as discussing how to create positive self-talk prior to stepping on stage.
    Other topics included will be:
    -stage gear for guitarists
    -day of show practice and warm-up
    -creating set lists for use of multiple tunings
    -day of show nutrition
    -the importance of hydration
    -how to do great sound check and control your sound from the stage
    - how to plan your time day of performance (particularly on tour)
    -ego free performance
    -honest assessment of that day's physical limits

     


    About Steve

    Steve Davison is a 2 time finalist and 2005 winner of the solo competition at the Arkansas Acoustic Music Festival and a finalist in the 2009 Merle Travis Fingerstyle Competition.  Mr. Davison was a featured performer on Arkansas Educational Network Television’s “AETN Presents” broadcast and his music was also used as a soundtrack for another AETN production, “The Historic Bridges of Arkansas”.

    Peter Janson is an award-winning contemporary fingerstyle acoustic guitarist, composer, and music educator.  He has performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Healdsburg Guitar Festival, the Argenta Acoustic Music Series in Little Rock, the WUMB Music Festival in Boston, and venues throughout North America.  He has had three albums in the Top Five of the NAR radio charts and his recordings have over one-million BMI verified broadcasts across all media.  His contemporary solo guitar music fuses jazz, classical, and world-folk styles, and blends passion, artistry, and technical mastery as he weaves songs about life and the heart.
